NYTKL invited experts on the art of Kobudo, Master Nick Adler, Shihan Serge Clark and Sensei Bernard Clemons to conduct a workshop on how to judge the different styles of traditional Kobudo ancient martial arts weapons. The styles of Kobudo represented are Ryukyu Kobudo, Matayoshi Kobudo and Yamani Ryu Kobudo.

The second half of the workshop deals with the WKF kumite rules. Shihan Cedric Barksdale explained in detail the key points to look for in judging kumite. He is one of the most experience officials in the United States. He is also a part of the USANKF referee council and a WKF referee.

The workshop focused on understanding the new WKF kumite rules and practicing judging. The event was sanctioned by the newly form New York Traditional Karate League. The workshop was conducted by Sensei Robert Bronisevsky and hosted over 40 registered participants preparing for assignments at the upcoming 14th Traditional Karate-do Invitational Championships.

Sensei Bronisevsky is an experienced instructor and tournament official from the Traditional Karate Center located in Staten Island, NY. Instruction included refereeing and officiating traditional karate tournaments and proper use of tournament equipment.

Sensei Bronisevsky is one of the best referees from the tri-state area. He was assisted by Sensei Luis Rojas, also an experienced USANKF referee. Participants included officials and competitors from the NYTKL dojos: Kyodai Karate-Do, Baxter Shorin-Ryu, Ronin Shotokan, Kai Leung's Shotojuku, Harakenkojuku Center, and SKA New York. Several Tri-State dojos were in attendance.

The NYTKL would like to thank Sensei Robert Bronisevsky and Sensei Luis Rojas for their help in educating our corps of referees. We all had a great time and looking forward to the next workshop.
